Report: Ben Rothwell Faces Blagoy Ivanov At March UFC Event

MMA

A heavyweight division attraction has been added to an unspecified UFC event this March according to MMA.bg as Ben Rothwell is in action against Blagoy Ivanov.

Rothwell (36-10-0) is returning to action for the first time in almost three years due to a combination of serving a suspension for a failed USADA issued drug test and a serious knee injury. Rothwell last competed at UFC Fight Night 86 in April of 2016, suffering a unanimous decision loss to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos. Rothwell has gone the distance just seven times as a professional MMA fighter, but has only picked up wins in three of those occasions.

Ivanov (16-2-0-1NC) is currently winless under the UFC banner, having lost to the aforementioned Dos Santos by decision at UFC Fight Night Boise. Ivanov is a former World Series Of Fighting Heavyweight Champion, defeating Smealinho Rama by third round submission to claim the gold at the WSOF 21. Ivanov also won six of seven fights under the Bellator MMA banner and that lone loss came to fellow UFC fighter Alexander Volkov.

The UFC currently has five events scheduled in March, starting with UFC 235 (March 2) and ending with UFC On ESPN 2 (March 30).
