The first fight has been announced for season four of Dana White’s Contender Series as Brandon Royval faces Jerome Rivera.
Cageside Press first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Royval (10-4-0) won the first encounter with Rivera at LFA 39 in May of 2018, with that win coming by injury after Rivera breaking his arm during a Royval takedown. Royval is the current LFA Flyweight Champion, defeating Nate Williams by first round submission at LFA 79 to claim the gold. Royval has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came by way of decision.
Rivera (9-2-0) has gone undefeated since the first loss to Royval, having defeated Gene Perez and Kendrick Latchman. Rivera went undefeated during his time as an amateur MMA competitor and three of his four wins came by way of submission. Rivera has competed a total of eleven times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those bouts went the distance.
Dana White’s Contender Series Episode 27 takes place on Tuesday, June 23 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
