Clay Collard was supposed to make his return to this UFC this past August against Devonte Smith at UFC 241, but Collard pulled out of the bout.
It would appear that a second run with Collard in the UFC won’t be happening because MMA Junkie reports that the promotion has cut the fighter.
The fighter went 1-3-0 in his first run with the UFC (17-8-0-1NC overall), having defeated Alex White, while suffering defeats to the trio of Max Holloway, Gabriel Benitez and Tiago Dos Santos E Silva. Collard has won three of four since exiting the UFC the first time, with all those wins coming by a mix of KO/TKO and submission.
Collard has already found a new combat sports home, as he competed on the preliminary card of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergey Kovalev event, suffering a fourth round TKO loss to Bektemir Melikuziev. That bout took place at light heavyweight, where Collard fought at lightweight for the majority of his professional MMA career.
There has been no comment yet from either the UFC or Collard as to the fighter’s status with the promotion.
