Report: Daniel Pineda Fined & Suspended For Failed Drug Test

MMA

Daniel Pineda was all set to face Lance Palmer in the PFL Season 2 Featherweight Playoff Finals on New Years Eve, but the fighter failed a drug test and was eliminated from his chance to win $1 million.

The fighter's case was reviewed by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) earlier today and Pineda was awarded a suspension and fine for the failed drug test according to MMA Junkie. The suspension is a six month suspension that is retroactive to the date of the drug test failure, meaning Pineda can compete again in April of 2020.

Pineda was also fined $12,500 and another $981.18 in legal fees, plus all of Pineda’s wins in the PFL Season 2 Playoffs were overturned to no contests. Pineda must also pass a series of drug tests 30, 15 and 3 days before his next scheduled fight to be fully cleared for a return to action.

Neither Pineda or a representative was in attendance at the meeting today in person or via phone, plus no statement has been issued at this time by Pineda or a representative.
