A light-heavyweight fight between Ed Herman and Gerald Meerschaert has been rebooked for UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Teixeira.
MMA Fighting first reported the news. The fight was originally set for UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Shahbazyan. It was postponed after Meerschaert tested positive for the coronavirus.
Herman (25-14-0-1NC) enters the contest riding a two-fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Patrick Cummins and Khadis Ibragimov. Herman has not suffered a defeat in well over a year. That last loss came against Gian Villante at UFC Fight Night Moncton.
Meerschaert (31-13-0) has won two of his last six under the UFC banner. Those wins are over Trevin Giles and Deron Winn. Meerschaert has seen 23 of his 31 professional MMA wins come by submission, while also suffering eight losses via submission.
UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Teixeira takes place on Saturday, September 12 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be revealed.
