A flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Brooklyn according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #3 Joseph Benavidez is in action against #5 Deiveson Figueiredo.
This bout was originally scheduled for UFC 233, but was moved to this card after the event was scratched.
Benavidez (26-5-0) has won seven of his last eight under the UFC banner and competed less than a week ago at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale, defeating Alex Perez by first round TKO. Benavidez has twice before challenged for the UFC Flyweight Title, losing both times to then champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC 152 and UFC On Fox 9. Benavidez also holds a decision win over Henry Cejudo, who is the reigning UFC Flyweight Champion.
Figueiredo (15-0-0) has already picked up four victories in UFC competition, last defeating John Moraga by second round TKO at UFC Fight Night Lincoln. Figueiredo is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and that streak has already lasted over six years. Figueiredo has picked up fifteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and more than half of them have come by way of KO/TKO.
UFC Fight Night Brooklyn takes place on Saturday, January 19 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
