Joseph Benavidez Not Happy To Be Fighting On UFC Fight Pass

Joseph Benavidez returns to action at UFC 225, where he faces Sergio Pettis in a preliminary card that will stream live on UFC Fight Pass.

While many fighters have already competed on the streaming service, it isn’t something that Benavidez is very happy about.

“No other person, in any division, with a No. 1 ranking and six wins in a row, would be buried on Fight Pass,” Benavidez said to ESPN. “What other theory is there to have besides they are snubbing [the flyweight division] or it’s something personal towards me?”

Other fighters who are competing at UFC 225 and on UFC Fight Pass include former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans, Anthony Smith, Clay Guida, Charles Oliveira, Mike Santiago and Dan Ige.

Benavidez cannot seem to wrap his mind around being a #1 ranked flyweight and fighting on UFC Fight Pass.

”You want to be respected by your bosses and peers. I’ve gone through a lot to get here. I’m doing my job. And that No. 1 ranking next to my name says I’m doing my job better than a good percentage of everyone else. It just doesn’t make sense,” says Benavidez.

UFC 225 takes place on Saturday, June 9 from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois with Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
