Alex Morono needed a new opponent for UFC 247 after the withdrawal of Dhiego Lima and now he has one because Kalinn Williams has accepted the short notice opportunity.
MMA Junkie reported the news and the bout is still going to be a part of the preliminary card.
Morono (17-5-0-1NC) enters the contest while in the midst of a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Kenan Song, Zak Ottow and Max Griffin. Morono hasn’t suffered a defeat in over a year, with that last loss coming to Jordan Mein at UFC On Fox 30. Morono has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter and four of them came by way of decision.
Williams (8-1-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Williams has suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came to Dan Yates at Knockout Promotions 60 in February of 2018. Williams has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and just four of those bouts went the distance.
UFC 247 takes place on Saturday, February 8 from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas with Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
