A middleweight division attraction has been added to UFC 244 according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #4 Kelvin Gastelum is going to be in action against #6 (WW) Darren Till.
Gastelum (15-4-0-1NC) is competing for the first time since losing a UFC Interim Middleweight Title bout to Israel Adesanya at UFC 236. Gastelum has won just two of his last five under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over the duo of Ronaldo Souza and Michael Bisping. Gastelum has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter and three of them have come by way of decision.
Till (17-2-1) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight losing streak, dropping bouts to the duo of Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal. Till is making his UFC Middleweight Division debut in this encounter, having previously competed at welterweight. Till hasn’t earned a victory in well over a year, with that last win coming over Stephen Thompson at UFC Fight Night Liverpool.
UFC 244 takes place on Saturday, November 2 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
