Report: Lauren Murphy Faces Ashlee Evans-Smith At UFC Fight Night Phoenix

A women’s flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Phoenix according to Mike Heck Jr. of MY MMA News as #7 Lauren Murphy faces #11 Ashlee Evans-Smith.

Murphy (10-4-0) has won just two of six fights under the UFC banner, with those victories coming over the duo of Kelly Faszholz and Barb Honchak. Murphy has seen her last three fights go the distance and it has been nearly three years since the fighter got a finish. Murphy is a former Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion, defeating Miriam Nakamoto at Invicta FC 7 to claim the gold.

Evans-Smith (6-3-0) is undefeated since moving down to the flyweight division, defeating Bec Rawlings by decision at UFC 223. Evans-Smith also competed in the Championship Fighting Alliance, where she defeated transgender fighter Fallon Fox in the finals of a four woman tournament in 2013. Evans-Smith also picked up five victories as an amateur MMA fighter, with one of them coming over UFC veteran turned pro wrestler Jessamyn Duke.

UFC Fight Night Phoenix takes place on Sunday, February 17 from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
