Rudy Schaffroth needed a new opponent for Bellator 242 after the withdrawal of Steve Mowry and now he has one because Ras Hylton has agreed to the short notice opportunity.
MMA Fighting first reported the news and the bout is expected to stay on the preliminary card.
Schaffroth (6-1-0-1NC) has won two of three in Bellator MMA competition, defeating the duo of Jon Hill and Vernon Lewis. Schaffroth is looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Tyrell Fortune at Bellator 225. Schaffroth has competed eight times as a professional MMA fighter and seven of them ended within the opening round.
Hylton (4-3-0) is going to be making his Bellator MMA debut in this bout and is also competing for the first time in about one year. Hylton has competed seven times as a professional MMA fighter and just one bout has gone past the first round. Hylton has suffered three losses as a professional MMA fighter, with one of them coming to UFC veteran Yorgan De Castro.
Belllator 242 takes place on Friday, July 24 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Sergio Pettis and Ricky Bandejas headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
