A lightweight division attraction has been added to the upcoming Bellator 201 card according to MMA DNA as Saad Awad is in action against Ryan Couture.
Awad (22-9-0) enters the contest on the strength of a three fight winning streak, defeating Ryan Quinn, Zach Freeman and JJ Ambrose. Awad was also the first fighter to defeat former Bellator MMA Lightweight Champion Will Brooks, with that win taking place at Bellator 105 in October of 2013. Awad also finished fighter Joe Duarte at Bellator 122 while landing elbow strikes while on his back and holding Duarte in the full guard.
Couture (11-5-0) has won three of five fights under the Bellator MMA banner, with his last win coming over Haim Gozali at Bellator 180. Couture went winless during a two fight run in the UFC, dropping bouts to the duo of Ross Pearson and Al Iaquinta. Ryan is also the son of MMA legend Randy Couture, who held both the UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Titles.
