Report: UFC Cuts Godofredo Pepey

MMA

The UFC roster has been slimmed down by one according to MMA Fighting as the promotion has decided to cut Godofredo Pepey.

Pepey earned a record of 5-6-0 in the UFC (13-6-0) overall, with his last bout in the promotion being a first round knockout loss to Mirsad Bektic at UFC On Fox 27. The five wins that Pepey picked up under the UFC banner came over Milton Vieira, Noad Lahat, Dashon Johnson, Andre Fili and Mike De La Torre.

It has been almost two years since Pepey picked up a win in the UFC, which came over the aforementioned Mike De La Torre at UFC Fight Night 95.

Godofredo made it to the finals of the UFC Ultimate Fighter Brazil 1, but lost in those finals to Rony Jason at UFC 147.

Prior to coming to the UFC in June of 2012, a now released Pepey won eight straight fights to start his professional MMA career and all eight victories were first round finishes.

Neither Pepey or the UFC have commented on the potential release. If the report about Pepey being released are true, it would mean that the Brazilian fighter is now free to negotiate with whatever promotion he chooses.
