A welterweight division attraction is the latest addition to UFC Fight Night Phoenix according to Farah Hannoun as Vicente Luque faces Bryan Barberena.
This bout was originally slated for UFC Fight Night Fortaleza, it is unknown why it was moved to UFC Fight Night Phoenix.
Luque (14-6-1) enters the contest on the strength of a three fight winning streak, defeating the trio of Niko Price, Chad Laprise and Jalin Turner. Luque has suffered just two defeats during his time in the UFC and both of those losses came by way of decision. Luque has picked up fourteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and thirteen of those victories have come by a form of finish (KO, TKO or submission).
Barberena (14-5-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC appearances, with the latest bout being a victory over Jake Ellenberger at UFC Fight Night Lincoln. Barberena has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter, but none of those defeats have come by KO/TKO. Barberena is also a former Dakota FC Welterweight Champion, defeating Dane Sayers by unanimous decision to win the gold in October of 2012.
UFC Fight Night Phoenix takes place on Sunday, February 17 from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona with Cain Velasquez and Francis Ngannou headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
