Two huge fights could be coming to this summers UFC 227 card according to UFC President Dana White himself as #8 Nate Diaz would face Georges St. Pierre in a lightweight division bout and #1 Alexander Gustafsson would face #3 (MW) Luke Rockhold in a light heavyweight division affair.

White revealed the plans for both fights during a recent appearance on the UFC Unfiltered podcast.

“It is true and they (Diaz/GSP) would fight at 155-pounds,” White said. “There are rumors, what did I see? That we were doing Gustafsson and Rockhold, that is true, but that’s not for the interim title, that’s false. It might be LA, I’m targeting LA.”

If GSP does in fact take the fight at 155 pounds, it would mark the former two division champions lightweight division debut.

The UFC President also says if the four big fights that are planned for UFC 227 come together, it would make for a perfect world scenario.

“In my perfect world, if everything goes perfect, and nothing ever goes perfect in this world, [it will be] Dillashaw vs Garbrandt, GSP vs Diaz would be the co-main, Gustafsson vs Rockhold and Brunson vs Antonio Carlos Jr. It’s very interesting,” says White.

UFC 227 takes place on Saturday, August 4 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California with TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
