Matchroom Boxing's latest trip to Italy resulted in an impressive knockout less than 90 seconds into the main event.
Fabio Turchi walked away with the WBC International cruiserweight title with a body shot to Sami Embom in their fight in Florence, Italy. The fight headlined the April 26 Matchroom Boxing Italy/OPI Since 82 show from Florence that was viewable on DAZN.
Turchi now improves his record to 17-0 and the body shot, which left Embom writhing on the canvas and not able to get back up by the referee's 10-count, was his 13th victory from inside the distance. This was Turchi's last time out in the ring took place on another Matchroom Boxing Italy show last November when he got another knockout victory, that time against Tony Conquest.
The co-main event of the fight saw Orlando Fiordigiglio win a close unanimous decision against Stephen Danyo. Fiordigiglio won with scores of 96-93, 96-93, 96-93 to become the new IBF International junior middleweight champion. Despite all three judges agreeing that Fiordigiglio won the fight, the bout itself was very competitive with Danyo being the aggressor throughout many portions of the fight.
But Turchi wasn't the only boxer with a quick first-round victory as Alessandro Riguccini stopped Ivan Alvarez in less than two minutes to retain the interim WBC Silver welterweight title to improve his record to 23-0 (19 KO).
Other results on the card include former middleweight secondary world title challenger Emanuele Blandamura win a six-round decision against Nikola Matic, Devis Boschiero defeating Yesner Talavera and Mohammed Obbadi knocking out Jerson Larios in the first round.
