Play-by-Play

(#1) Jan Blachowicz vs. (#3) Aleksandar Rakic

Round One - Blachowicz with a low kick to start. Blachowicz goes for a high kick but whiffs and Rakic scrambles back to his feet after a slip. Rakic lands a right hook and it opens up a cut under Blachowicz’s left eye. Rakic with a pair of low kicks, Blachowicz rips a right hook to the body and then a 1-2. Rakic lands a pair of jabs, Blachowicz comes back with a right hook then a calf kick and one more for good measure. Rakic lands a counter right hook after slipping a jab from the former champion and the horn sounds to end the opening frame.

Round Two - Rakic goes for and gets a takedown to start. Blachowicz teases a choke from the bottom but Rakic uses the chance to transition to full guard. Rakic seems content to ride out the balance of the round in this position, Blachowicz scrambles and ends up back on his feet but the buzzer sounds to end a very uneventful round.

Round Three - Blachowicz with a low kick to start. Rakic’s knee buckles after throwing a punch and he grabs at his leg, Blachowicz moves in for the kill but referee Mark Smith waves this one off. Unfortunate end to the bout.

(#13) Ryan Spann vs. Ion Cutelaba

Round One - Spann goes for the clinch early but quickly breaks and lands a 1-2 then a pair of jabs to start. Cutelaba shoots for and gets a takedown, Spann scrambles right back TK his feet and looks for a standing guillotine but Cutelaba shoved him back down to the mat. Spann cracks Cutelaba with an up-kick and Cutelaba retreats. Cutelaba goes for another takedown and gets it, Spann scrambles back to his feet, stays clinched and gets the neck and Cutelaba has no choice but to tap! Ryan Spann with a statement win!

Davey Grant vs. Louis Smolka

Round One - Grant lands a right hook to start. Grant misses a roundhouse kick and Smolka goes for the takedown but Grant shoved him aside. Grant lands a spin kick to the body then partially lands a spinning back elbow. Grant wallops Smolka with a lighting quick jab and Smolka drops to the canvas but Smolka scrambles and grabs a leg to stay alive. Grant lets Smolka up but the horn sounds to end a lackluster opening frame until the final 30-plus seconds.

Round Two - Grant’s the aggressor early and lands a 1-2. Smolka comes back with a right hook then a low kick and a 1-2 of his own. Smolka peppers Grant with a jab and it opens a cut on Grant’s forehead. Grant with a head kick, Smolka clinches and lands a knee whilst inside. Grant powers out and lands a knee on the break. Grant with a low kick but Smolka trips Grant to the mat after a slip and Smolka immediately looks for an arm-bar. Grant keeps himself in the fight until the buzzer sounds that’ll send this one to the third and final round.

Round Three - A low kick from Grant to start. Smolka looks for a takedown, Grant sprawls, Smolka spins but Grant cracks him with 4 or 5 hard shots and Smolka’s out cold as referee Herb Dean waves this one off! What a finish by Davey Grant!

(#1) Katlyn Chookagian vs. (#9) Amanda Ribas

Round One - Ribas immediately gets this one to the mat with a hip toss. Ribas ends up in top control but Chookagian quickly gets back to her feet. Chookagian lands a 1-2, Ribas goes for and misses a spin kick and walks into a right hook. Ribas shoves Chookagian to the fence, Chookagian lands another 1-2 and the horn sounds to end a relatively action-less opening frame.

Round Two - Chookagian continues the barrage with another 1-2 to start. Chookagian lands a step-in knee to the body and lands a right hook. Ribas with a clinch and trips Chookagian to the mat. Chookagian rolls and gets back to her feet but Ribas clinches. Chookagian spins back to the center of the octagon and Ribas misses another spin kick. Chookagian unloads a right hook then a low kick before diving for a takedown but she runs out of time as the buzzer sounds to end round number two.

Round Three - Chookagian peppers Ribas with a pair of jabs to start. Ribas with a low kick and trips Chookagian to the mat but Chookagian gets right back up. Chookagian lands a 1-2 then rips a right hook to the body. Ribas with a 1-2 then a low kick but whiffs on a spinning back-fist. Ribas clinches and shoves Chookagian to the fence but the former title challenger slides out and lands a knee to the body on the break and the horn sounds to send this one to the judge’s scorecards.

Result: (#1) Katlyn Chookagian def. (#9) Amanda Ribas via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Frank Camacho vs. Manuel Torres

Round One - Torres cracks Camacho with a tight hook to start. Camach teases a level change but Torres slides out but eats a jab from Camacho. Torres with a 1-2, Camacho with a left hook, Camacho goes for another takedown but Torres stuffs it and breaks out of the clinch. Torres lands another 1-2, Camacho shoots for another takedown but Torres shoves him aside. Camacho clinches but Torres wallops him with a right uppercut then an elbow and Torres drills Camacho with a 1-2 and Camacho goes out! What a win for Manuel Torres!
