UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas and former champ Carla Esparza are expected to meet for a second time at UFC 274 on May 7.
Sports Illustrated's Justin Barrasso was the first to report the news of the match-up being in the works via a tweet, although the promotion themselves have yet to confirm anything regarding the booking. Esparza won the pair's initial meeting back at The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale in December 2014, where she defeated Namajunas via a third-round submission due to a rear-naked choke to become the inaugural UFC women's strawweight champion. The 34-year old Torrance, California native currently is on a five-fight winning streak and is coming off of a second-round TKO victory over Yan Xiaonan at UFC Vegas 27. Namajunas meanwhile is 6-1 in her last seven Octagon outings and will try to build on a split-decision win over former UFC strawweight champion, Zhang Weili, in their rematch back at UFC 268.
