Rose Namajunas is coming off one of the bigger wins in her professional MMA career, as she defeated Michelle Waterson at UFC On Fox 24.
The victorious Namajunas now has her sights set on Joanna Jedrzejczyk and the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title.
"There’s just the way I am,” Namajunas said on The MMA Hour. "I respect my competition. I think I don’t have to hate somebody in order to fight them, so, yeah, why wouldn't I wanna fight her? She’s the champ. I wanna fight the best. I’m obviously coming for that belt, so I think she knows it’s inevitable that I’m coming for her. Or whether or not she wins, I’m coming for the belt. I’m a threat."
Namajunas has challenged for the strawweight title before, losing to then champion Carla Esparza at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale.
Jedrzejczyk will defend the gold against Jessica Andrade at UFC 211 and according to Namajunas, it doesn’t matter who wins because she will face either for the gold.
"It doesn't matter to me,” Namajunas said. "Her style is very exciting to match-up for me, that will be a great challenge. But if she doesn't win, then she's not the best after that point. It’s not attached to that person. It’s nothing personal. I just want to fight the best."
Besides the win over Waterson, the strawweight contender also defeated Paige VanZant, Tecia Torres and Angela Hill during her UFC tenure.
