Bellator MMA President Scott Coker was in attendance at the event and he believes it may be time for Nelson to retire.
“I think that I go back and talk to my team about that. You know, I think Roy brought it and did his best today. It didn’t work out, but we’ll evaluate that. I think that it might be that time. I’m not sure, but that’s something that only Roy can decide. But as far as what I said on Wednesday, it’s definitely a possibility,” Coker said at the post-fight press conference (via Farah Hannoun & Matt Erickson of MMA Junkie).
Nelson is currently in the midst of a four fight losing streak and the fighter hasn’t picked up a victory in over two years. There has been no comment yet from the fighter or a representative as to whether or not Nelson will hang up the gloves for good.
If the fighter does opt for retirement, it would end a professional MMA career that began over fifteen years ago.
