The second commentary team has been announced for Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series, that announce team will consist of the NFL Network’s Dan Hellie and ESPNU’s Brendan Fitzgerald.
UFC Hall of Famer member Urijah Faber and Snoop Dogg will be the other commentary team.
UFC Senior Vice President Of International & Content Joe Carr says this announce team is going to be given the opportunity to earn the respect of the MMA community.
“Dan Hellie and Brendan Fitzgerald both have had long broadcasting careers, even if they haven’t called live fights,” Carr said to USA Today. “We are not rushing them onto broadcast TV. UFC Fight Pass is a smaller platform so they won’t face as much scrutiny. They won’t be in front of 2-3 million people like they would be on broadcast TV. This will give them more opportunity to learn how to call the sport and earn respect of the fans.”
Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series (DWTNCS) is going to be used as a feeder system for top MMA prospects and former UFC fighters to fight there way back into the UFC.
Carr also says that DWTNCS is the UFC giving fans more of what they want, which is more live fights on UFC Fight Pass.
“Our research through the years has shown what our subscribers want is more live, exclusive fights on the service,” Carr said. “I think about 50 percent of our subscribers will watch the Tuesday Night Contender Series live.”
Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series: Episode 1 takes place on Tuesday, July 11 from the UFC Gym in Las Vegas, Nevada with Kurt Holobaugh and Matt Bessette headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
