Stephen Thompson was on the wrong side of a unanimous decision to Darren Till in the main event of UFC Fight Night Liverpool.

Even though the fight was close from bell to bell, one thing Thompson was sure of is that he won the controversial bout.

“I thought I edged it out, but he’s definitely a big boy,” Thompson said after the event. “You could feel his weight out there a little bit. But you know what, it is what it is.”

Thompson saw all three judge’s scorecards go in favor of Till, with those cards reading 49-46, 48-47 and 49-46. Even UFC President Dana White admitted after the event that he had a hard time scoring the five round encounter

One major concern Thompson has is his surgically repaired left leg, which was attacked by Till for the majority of the fight.

“My left leg just a little bit,” Thompson said. “It kept me from moving around like I wanted to, but no excuses. I want to get my left leg checked out, and then see where we go from there.”

Till now becomes only the third fighter to hand Thompson a loss in the UFC, with the other two being UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley and Matt Brown.
