However, it would appear that Ferguson has dealt with his personal issues and is ready to make a return to the Octagon.
The fighter would take to Twitter to make the following announcement, which includes calling out UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov:
Passed my Med Eval last week. I’m excited about retaining my ufc Lightweight Status that was stripped due to injury. Khabib not actively competing over some time should be stripped. A high Rank title fight/superfight between @TeamKhabib & I is what the fans want #defendorvacate pic.twitter.com/Iyq5Tff6ww

Ferguson and Nurmagomedov were slated to meet multiple times under the UFC banner, but injuries have prevented those encounters from coming together.
It could be quite some time before Ferguson gets his desired bout against Nurmagomedov because the lightweight champion is still serving a suspension for the UFC 229 post-fight brawl, plus Nurmagomedov will most like face the winner of this weekends UFC Interim Lightweight Title bout between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier. Ferguson last competed at UFC 229, defeating former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis by second round TKO.
