A pair of Rizin versus Bellator MMA bouts were announced for Rizin 20 during a press conference held earlier today in Japan as Mikuru Asakura (Rizin) faces John Teixeira (Bellator) and Yuki Motoya (Rizin) faces Patrick Mix (Bellator).
Asakura (11-1-0-1NC) is undefeated thus far under the Rizin banner, including a victory over UFC veteran Hatsu Hioki at Rizin 12. Asakura has picked up eleven wins as a professional MMA fighter and six of them have come by way of KO/TKO.
Teixeira (23-4-2) is making his Rizin debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Teixeira has suffered four losses as a professional MMA fighter, but none of them came by way of submission.
Motoya (23-7-0-1NC) comes into the bout while in the midst of a two fight losing streak and he hasn’t picked up a win in almost a year. Motoya has fought a total of thirty one times as a professional MMA fighter and thirteen of those bouts went the distance.
Mix (12-0-0) is also making his Rizin debut in this bout and does so with an undefeated streak that has lasted over three years. Mix has competed twice before in Bellator MMA, defeating the duo of Ricky Bandejas and Isaiah Chapman.
Rizin 20 takes place on Tuesday, December 31 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan with Kai Asakura and an opponent to be announced headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on Fite TV.
