Tyron Woodley Betting On Conor McGregor, Parties With Mayweather

UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley is currently in the midst of preparing for his next title defense.

When it comes to the upcoming super fight between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, the champion is picking the Irishman to win the fight.

“I’ll be honest, me and Conor ain’t really see eye to eye on a lot of things. At the end of the day I still want to scrap him, but I’m betting on Conor,” Woodley said on The Morning Wood Show. “You know why? I bet a grand, I win 6,500 bucks. I bet 2 grand, 13 grand. It’s freaking combat sports. Anybody got a chance at all times, so I’m willing to lose for the chance to win because that’s crazy that somebody that is that big of a underdog. Like on paper, you and I can see how and why. Who knows how it might go? I might be able to bet 100 bucks to win 1000. He might be plus 1000 at the end of the day when people really start putting their analytical hats on this fight and style match up.”

Mayweather will have a huge experience edge over McGregor, as the longtime boxer has fought 49 times as a pro and McGregor is making his professional boxing debut.

Woodley isn’t picking McGregor because he actually believes he could win, but due to the amount of money he can win.

“I don’t know. I don’t think he’s going to win, but if he proves me wrong, at least I can cash in on it,” says Woodley.

However, this weekend, the UFC Champion was seen hanging out with Mayweather. In a video released, Mayweather called Woodley the "best UFC fighter." No word yet on whether or not Mayweather thought Jon Jones got really small, or Demetrious Johnson got really big.

Conor McGregor versus Tyron Woodley takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
