UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley hasn’t been seen in the Octagon since defeating Demian Maia by unanimous decision at UFC 214 in July of 2017.

Now that the surgically repaired shoulder is almost done healing up, a confident Woodley wants to return to action this August at UFC 227.

“I’m projected to be back Aug. 4,” Woodley said to MMA Junkie Radio. “That’s when I want to fight. I want to fight in L.A.”

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos and Colby Covington are battling for the vacant UFC Interim Welterweight Title this Saturday Night at UFC 225, it is unknown if the winner of that fight will face Woodley in August.

Woodley is back in training, despite the fact that he is still rehabbing the surgically repaired shoulder.

“I’m ready. I’ve been starting to go 100 percent on a lot of things,” Woodley said. “Obviously I’m still doing rehab, still getting the strength back. But it’s not restricting me from a lot.”

UFC 227 takes place on Saturday, August 4 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California with TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
