UFC 225 Preliminary Card Ratings Are In

MMA

There was just a single big MMA event this past weekend in the form of UFC 225, which had a four fight preliminary card airing live on Fox Sports 1.

The ratings are in for the prelude to the UFC 225 pay-per-view and an average of 667,000 viewers checked out the fights.

A heavyweight division attraction between Curtis Blaydes and Alistair Overeem brought in the highest viewership, with 848,000 people checking out that encounter. Other fights that aired on the broadcast saw Claudia Gadelha defeat Carla Esparza, Mirsad Bektic defeat Ricardo Lamas and Chris De La Rocha defeat Rashad Coulter.

This four fight preliminary card also streamed live on Fox Sports Go and Fox Now, bringing in an additional 8,998 viewers.

Fox Sports 2 aired the pre-show and that brought in 79,000 viewers, while the post-fight show that aired on Fox Sports 1 brought in 86,000 viewers.

Competition was not at a premium for UFC 225, as the only major sporting event to go head to head with the MMA card was a Major League Baseball game on Fox, which drew 2,757,000 viewers.

While the UFC is not airing live on TV until the TUF 27 Finale in July, Bellator MMA will present Bellator 201 on June 29. The event will air live on the Paramount Network with Ilima-Lei Macfarlane defending the women’s flyweight title against Alejandra Lara in the main event.
