There were a lot of memorable moments at the UFC Summer Kickoff Press Conference, but one of the more memorable took place between Michael Chiesa and Kevin Lee.
For those who didn’t see what went down, a mention of Chiesa’s mother by Lee would lead to the two getting into a brief scuffle, with punches thrown as well.
According to the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission (OSAC), which will oversee the two fighters bout at UFC Fight Night 112, they will not be issuing any sanctions or punishments for the scuffle.
“However if they are disciplined and placed on suspension by another Commission, we will honor that suspension,” OSAC director Joe Miller wrote in an e-mail response to MMA Fighting.
Following the short scuffle, the security team working the event escorted both Lee and Chiesa from the building. However, when the stare downs took place at the end of the press conference, both fighters appeared and no other altercations took place.
Once cooler heads prevailed, the TUF champion in Chiesa even called the punch delivered by Lee to be a cheap shot.
UFC Fight Night 112 takes place on Sunday, June 25 from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with Michael Chiesa and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
