Last week, Raw closed with General Manager Kurt Angle talking to an unknown person on the phone. Angle told the person to come to tonight's Raw and he was not ashamed of his secret which has been teased the last month. It has been announced Angle will be appearing in an interview on WWE Network following Raw.
Also last week, Angle made a number one contender's match for tonight which will feature Samoa Joe and Roman Reigns. Angle stated the winner will face Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam in a WWE Universal Championship Match.
-Dean Ambrose comes to the ring wielding a chair. He calls the chair "Steely Dan" and notes the dents in the chair which are from his confrontation with The Miz last week. He calls out The Miz. Seth Rollins comes out instead.
There is some tension between the two wrestlers because of Ambrose's distrust of his former tag partner. Rollins asks Ambrose to stand by his side as he fights The Miz. Ambrose says he is not Rollins' brother anymore. Rollins apologizes for turning on The Shield and pleads his case to Ambrose, who is having none of it.
Rollins offers his back to be hit by the chair in Ambrose's hands. There is no chair shot as Ambrose throws the chair out of the ring. The Miz then comes out to the stage with a microphone, Bo Dallas, and Curtis Axel. The Miz says Dean Ambrose does not have what it takes to beat him and says he will always outsmart Ambrose. Dallas, Axel, and The Miz circle the ring with chairs. Ambrose and Rollins try to fight them off but they are overpowered.
The Miz hits Rollins with a Skull Crushing Finale on a chair.
-After the commercial, The Miz is backstage as he rushes to the parking lot, seemingly trying to leave the arena.
Non-Title Match: Bayley versus Alexa Bliss
Bliss is aggressive and focuses on Bayley's arm through the commercial break. Bayley makes a comeback hitting some offense by showing her arm hurts. There's a small confrontation between Bayley and Nia Jax, who is at ringside. Sasha Banks comes out to take Jax out with a dropkick. Bayley hits a Bayley-to-belly and pins the champion for the second time in two weeks. Banks and Bayley celebrate in the ring.
Winner: Bayley wins via pinfall after a Bayley-to-belly.
-Corey Graves gets up from the commentator's table after looking at his phone. Michael Cole notices but does not say anything to him.
-Angle is backstage with Graves saying he is having second thoughts about "coming clean." Graves tells him he has to reveal his secret because it will come out anyway.
-Titus O'Neil, Apollo Crews, and Akira Tozawa are in the locker room. O'Neil is giving a pep speech to motivate his two clients. Ariya Davari shows up to challenge Tozawa.
Mustafa Ali and Jack Gallagher versus Drew Gulak and The Brian Kendrick
The match starts with the feuding Gallagher and Kendrick but Kendrick tags out. Later, Gulak gets a blind tag to Kendrick. Gallagher scores a head butt and tags in Ali, who comes in to hit the inverted 450 splash.
Winners: Ali and Gallagher via pinfall after Ali's inverted 450 splash.
-Enzo Amore is in the ring with his microphone. He says he has always accepted the consequences for his words. He then addresses Big Cass. Amore says he sacrificed his body to help he and Cass win. Amore then says Cass' size is great but it never helped them win tag-team titles. According to Amore, his performance at WWE Great Balls of Fire shows his heart. He then asks for video of Cass being head butted by Big Show last week.
Cass comes out to the ring to confront Amore, but Amore has other plans. Amore goes into the crowd and grabs a seat, then Big Show comes out to face Cass. The two big men fight in an unsanctioned fight as Amore cheers on Big Show. Cass gets the upper hand and kicks a grounded Big Show several times. Amore tries to help Big Show but eats a big boot from Cass.
-Roman is interviewed backstage. He says everything is in the past and tonight he will be the man to defeat Samoa Joe.
-Ambrose and Rollins are in the locker room bickering. Angle comes in to offer them a tag match against any two members of the "Miztourage". Ambrose says they want all three members. Angle makes it a 3-on-2 handicap match next week.
-Elias Samson is in the ring with his guitar. He degrades the audience who chants for Finn Balor, who interrupts Samson.
Finn Balor versus Elias Samson
Elias dominates the match early with some unsavory tactics. Balor catches Samson with a pele kick and begins to get a head of steam before Samson hits a powerbomb. Balor makes a small come back but Samson hits him with his guitar.
Winner: Balor via disqualification after Samson's guitar shot.
-Bray Wyatt shows up on the titantron to address Balor. He says he has been watching Balor and feels the need to punish him. Wyatt threatens Balor with abstract forms of destruction and says he will enjoy hurting Balor.
-Angle is on the phone again when Bayley and Banks show up in his office. The two are arguing over who should face Women's Champion Alexa Bliss at WWE SummerSlam. Angle puts the two in a number one contender match next week.
-The Revival are backstage explaining their attack on The Hardy Boys last week. They take issue with The Hardy Boys' flips and feeling snubbed by The Hardy Boys.
Akira Tozawa versus Ariya Davari
Davari quickly injuries Tozawa's shoulder, he then begins to attack that particular body part. Any offense Tozawa fits in is hampered by his injury. Tozawa's manager Titus O'Neil asks the referee to stop the match. Tozawa is irate.
Winner: Ariya Davari via corner stoppage.
-Kurt Angle comes out to the ring to address his secret. He talks about his decisions having consequences. He admitted he has been scared to reveal everything but his family is supportive. Angle reveals that at some point one of his exes gave birth to his child and put him up for adoption without telling Angle. Angle recently found out about his son. His son is a great athlete who was a collegiate wrestler who went on to join WWE. His son is former tag-team champion Jason Jordan.
Jordan comes down the ramp. The father and son embrace in the middle of the ring.
The Revival versus The Hardy Boys
The two teams engage in standard tag-team tactics. There are several tags from both teams and each team tries to isolate one of their opponents. Eventually, The Revival effectively isolate Matt Hardy, begin to beat him down, and deny him tagging in his brother. Jeff Hardy finally gets tagged in and takes out both Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder. The action picks up with The Hardy Boys hitting some fo their best known moves. Jeff Hardy goes to the top rope, Wilder knocks him down, Dawson pins Jeff Hardy, and pulls his tights.
Winners: The Revival via pinfall.
-Samoa Joe is interviewed, he says he has already defeated Roman Reigns and plans to do the same tonight.
-O'Neil is in the locker room with his client Tozawa. O'Neil explains to his angry client why he stopped the match. He claims he knew Tozawa would not quit and O'Neil was thinking of his future. Tozawa demands O'Neil get him a match on 205 Live against Davari.
Main Event: Roman Reigns versus Samoa Joe
The two Samoans start the match with a lockup. They exchange a few shoulder tackles and strikes. Reigns knocks Samoa Joe down a few times but Samoa Joe is defiant. Following the commercial break, Samoa Joe is in control. He spends time hitting Reigns with hard hits and suplexes. Reigns reverses a suplex and begins to get his licks in on Samoa Joe.
Samoa Joe rolls out of the ring when Reigns lines up his superman punch. Reigns then goes for his drive-by kick on the outside but Samoa Joe clotheslines him. Reigns then takes out Samoa Joe and they both lay on the outside.
Samoa Joe and Reigns exchange big moves and begin to show they are tired. Roman Reigns hits a superman punch but Samoa Joe kicks out. Before the two competitors could stand up, Braun Strowman shows up. Reigns his Strowman before he can step into the ring.Reigns and Strowman brawl and the referee ends the match. Samoa Joe and Strowman begin to brawl as well. Samoa Joe and Reigns team up on Strowman. Reigns hits a superman punch on Strowman as Samoa Joe applies the coquina clutch. Strowman recovers and takes about both Reigns and Samoa Joe.
Strowman begins to leave the ring, but goes back to attack Reigns. Security tries to talk him out of it, but he delivers another power slam to the Big Dog.
The match is a no contest.
