Former UFC Women’s Strawweight Title challenger Valerie Letourneau is close to signing a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA, this comes from a report filed by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani.

Letourneau earned a record of 3-3-0 in the UFC (8-6-0 overall) and unsuccessfully challenged Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the women’s strawweight title at UFC 193.

If the fighter does finally sign with the Viacom owned promotion, then she would compete in the women’s flyweight division. Letourneau was in attendance at this past Friday Night’s Bellator 178 card, where Ilima-Lei MacFarlane defeated Jessica Middleton in the lone female fight.

All six of Letourneau’s losses as a pro, three inside of the UFC and three outside of the UFC, came to UFC veterans. Bellator MMA officials have stated in the past that they will be crowning a women’s flyweight champion by the end of 2017 and Letourneau would arguably be the biggest “name” fighter on the female flyweight roster.

Assuming that Letourneau is heading to Bellator MMA, the fighter would also be entering the promotion on a three fight losing streak and she hasn’t earned a victory in just under two years. Letourneau also competed in the first and only women’s flyweight division fight in UFC history, losing to Joanne Calderwood at UFC Fight Night 89.
