The on-screen pairing of real-life husband and wife Rusev and Lana reportedly is coming to an end.
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Lana's new dancing gimmick will lead to a babyface turn, which would split her from husband. According to the Observer, WWE wants to add a female with that type of gimmick, which is thought to stand out from the current female roster, which emphasizes good wrestlers and top athletes.
WWE has been hyping Lana's debut on Smackdown since she moved to that brand during the "Superstar Shake-Up" a few weeks ago. Rusev also moved to Smackdown during the Shake-Up, but he is still out recovering from shoulder surgery.
When Lana does finally debut on Smackdown, she is expected to have a new look. Natalya tweeted out this picture promoting "Total Divas" that featured Lana in some new ring attire:
That would be a significant change from the ring gear Lana wore during her previous, abbreviated run as an in-ring competitor, which included participating in a multi-person tag match on the preshow at WrestleMania 32:
Lana has been working sporadic matches at NXT house shows in Florida for the past several months, preparing for an in-ring career.
