From The People's Champ to People's Sexiest Man Alive.
Yes, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has just been named world's sexiest man by People Magazine, a title that's been held by Brad Pitt, Matthew McConaughey and George Clooney, among others.
Johnson was already revealed to be the highest paid movie star in the world earlier this year, and this is just another feather in the cap of The Great One.
The announcement was first made on The Ellen Show, to great fanfare and applause. There were even streamers.
When asked how it felt to be named Sexiest Man Alive, the Rock replied: “I said, ‘That’s awesome.’ And then what went through my mind was just how cool and exciting it is. And then I thought, ‘Wow, we’ve pretty much reached the pinnacle.’ I’m not quite too sure where we go from here. I’ve done it all, this is it.”
But as Ellen details in the above video, Dwayne didn't always feel too sexy himself. And that included being a teen who sometimes did stuff that adult Dwayne isn't so proud of: “I was doing a lot of things that I shouldn’t have. I was getting arrested multiple times, but at the same time, always very respectful to my teachers and elders. I was unsure of who I was and who I wanted to be.”
Now, though, he appears to have it all figured out: “I’ve made big sweeping changes in my career over the years, which have served me nicely,” he says. “But I feel that the big sweeping changes that happened in my life, in my relationships, of being a dad, of being a partner, and the things that I was and the things that I am, has really lent itself to a confidence.”
We all know that Johnson has muscles on top of muscles on top of muscles, but it appears to be his natural charm and charisma that set him apart from other musclebound brutes who have made the jump from sports entertainment to the big screen.
Johnson is currently filming a reboot of Jumanji, and according to his IMDB, he has seven other films slated to come out in the coming years, including Fast 8 and Baywatch. As if that weren't enough, he's also the star of HBO's hit show Ballers. Plus, he provides the voice of one of the main characters of Disney's Moana, in theaters this month.
So it seems like this Sexiness isn't going anywhere any time soon, and this star would have to fall for quite a while before it hit "Rock Bottom."
