NXT's television tapings saw a match at NXT Takeover: Houston have it's field filled, and plenty more added.
Nikki Cross will compete for the recently vacated NXT Women's Championship at the event, competing against Peyton Royce, Ember Moon and Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane. Moon and Royce qualified by winning matches at the last set of NXT tapings, while Sane was given a spot for winning the Mae Young Classic.
At the Wednesday tapings, NXT General Manager William Regal announced a battle royal to determine the fourth member of the the match. Nikki Cross was granted an opportunity to enter due to outside interference by Taynara Melo.
There were several members of the Mae Young Classic tournament who participated in the battle royal, including Mercedes Martinez, Bianca Belair, Candice LeRae, Santana Garrett, and Taynara Melo.
The long reigning, dominant champion Asuka vacated her title this summer after sustaining a collarbone injury. She's since moved to the WWE main roster and will debut for the WWE Raw brand at the October TLC pay-per-view.
Also set for the show at the tapings was an NXT Championship Match between Andrade Cien Almas and champion Drew McIntryre. Aleister Black would later confirm that he's facing Velveteen Dream on the show.
