UFC Not Coming To PPV This August, PPV Set For September 9

Rumors had persisted that the UFC would be running a pay-per-view event, possibly UFC 215, sometime this August.

However, that is no longer the case because there isn’t going to be a pay-per-view offering from the promotion that month in light of Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather taking place the next week.

The potential August pay-per-view, UFC 215, is now taking place on Saturday, September 9 and that was the original date of the UFC 216 event. UFC 216 is now taking place this coming October, although there are no fights announced for the event at this time.

Rumored plans were that a UFC Flyweight Title bout between champion Demetrious Johnson and former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw would have headlined the card. However, the champion has refused to defend the gold against Dillashaw and has been outspoken against the UFC as of late.

With no UFC pay-per-view now taking place in August, there is only going to be one UFC event taking place that month and that is going to be UFC Fight Night: Mexico City on August 5. That event is going to be headlined by a flyweight division fight as Sergio Pettis takes on Brandon Moreno.

This is going to be the second time there was no UFC pay-per-view during a calendar month, as there was no UFC pay-per-view event in the month of January as well.
