Update: Jeff Hardy Injured, Could Need Surgery

WWE's tag team division has seen quite the shift lately as former singles competitors Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are kings of the mountain, and the tag team ranks could be dealt a major blow soon.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reports that Jeff Hardy has been working through a shoulder injury that could end up requiring the former WWE and TNA Champion to have surgery. Hardy has been teaming with his brother Matt in WWE for the last six months since the popular duo returned to the company at WWE WrestleMania 32.

The injury happened during the Iron Man match at the WWE Great Balls of Fire PPV back in July, per Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Hardy wasn't able to work WWE live events last week because of the shoulder injury, which left his brother Matt to take on Good Brothers' Karl Anderson solo in a one-on-one contest. Jeff and Matt have actually stepped up their singles competition of late, with both participating in a battle royal, Jeff getting an Intercontinental title shot, and both participating in a six-pack challenge to determine an IC title contender.

As pointed out by PWS, Hardy was seen favoring his shoulder on this week's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, in which he main evented. The Hardy Boyz weren't scheduled to compete on Sunday night's WWE No Mercy pay-per-view.
