Adam Cole discusses his relationship with Shawn Michaels.
Since coming to NXT, Adam Cole has turned into one of the hottest stars in the business. Not only is he the leader of the dominant Undisputed Era, but he's put on top-notch matches against the likes of Ricochet, Aleister Black, and Johnny Gargano. At the most recent NXT TakeOver event, Cole's trilogy with Gargano came to an end with Cole picking up the victory after a grueling 50-minute affair.
Speaking to Lilian Garcia on Chasing Glory, Cole discussed working with two legends behind the scenes in putting together the match.
"Michael Hayes and Shawn Michaels," revealed Cole when asked who the producers were for the match. "Michael is great, brilliant. Normally, he's involved in producing my matches. Shawn Michaels is involved in every one of my matches. At the Performance Center, I work with him directly. He's like a mentor for so many of us in NXT. He takes a liking and makes sure he has a hand in everything that we're doing. The best thing about Shawn is, he lets us come up with what we think, and he'll get excited about what we come up with. If we're stumped on something, in five seconds he'll go, 'what if you did this' and it's amazing. It's awesome to have those two there to pick their brains. They played a big part in creating what we created [at TakeOver: Toronto]."
Cole bested Gargano in the 2-out-of-3 falls war, which culminated with both men crashing from the top of the cage through a table in the ring. The bout was universally praised with the live crowd engaged for the entirety of the bout. You can hear the thoughts of Sean Ross Sapp and Jimmy Van on NXT TakeOver: Toronto by clicking here.
