Speaking on the MackMania podcast, Scherr provided more details on the promotion and how it all started.

"In all honestly, a lot of this really started as a joke amongst the group of us to where it's gotten to now, the crazy hindsight of all this stuff. I was there behind the scenes when they filmed the first one, when I was with WWE, hiding in the back and kind of giving my little bit of knowledge that I have of television, working so closely with all the crazy stunts we produced as Braun Strowman in WWE, gave me an inside look of how things should be shot on camera, getting continuity, how to tell stories. Right when they released the one, I was joking, 'the day I get fired, I can't wait to come over here and help you guys work on this.' 9 am the next day, I got the phone call saying my contract would be terminated. Maybe we talked this into fruition. It started as an idea, a joke, a dream amongst a group of friends that blossomed into this wrestling child that we're growing and we're knocking on the doors, a couple of days left before we announce our TV partnership deal. A lot big, unbelievable things happening so fast, being in the right place at the right time is literally how this stuff happened, running into people who are fans of mine that are big tech and looking for different opportunities to enjoy professional wrestling. It's really cool partnering up with these different companies and entities who will be able to help us push our narrative out there and give fans a new way of watching wrestling," he said.

The first Free The Narrative special aired in May 2021.

Scherr has ventured into different opportunities since his WWE release on June 2, 2021, including a metaverse partnership through ImagineAR Metaverse.

During the interview, he says there is work to bring Control Your Narrative to the metaverse.

"Now we're working on, Control Your Narrative is going to be the first wrestling promotion in the metaverse and stuff with NFT characters that you can buy, play in the video games, stuff like that. We're hitting this with everything we got. This is our one chance to do something different, kind of change the industry a little bit. It's putting a lot of power in the talents hands, cutting the middleman out. You hear these stories of guys and girls who have to travel around and pay their dues. Pay your dues is going out there and working, you should get paid for that. I'm so (sick) of hearing these stories of people driving four or five hours, setting up a ring, putting their body on the line, and getting a handshake and driving back home. People coming to two who are going to work for me and EC3, they're going to get paid. That's what this about it. It's a business. We're here to make money. If the business is making money, the talent is making money, the owners are making money, everyone is having fun, we're happy, and that's how you create change," he said.
