AEW Announces AEW Rampage: The First Dance Set For 8/20 From The United Center In Chicago

Tony Khan announces The First Dance set for Chicago, Illinois’ United Center.

SummerSlam weekend just got even bigger as Tony Khan, through Tony Schiavone, announced on the July 28 episode of AEW Dynamite that All Elite Wrestling will come to Chicago’s United Center for the first time ever on August 20 with a special Friday event called “The First Dance.”

That weekend will also feature SummerSlam emanating from Allegiant stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada as well as an NXT TakeOver event featuring the return of Samoa Joe to the squared circle. Ring of Honor will also be running their Glory by Honor events that weekend.

Following the announcement, the crowd immediately began chanting for CM Punk and Darby Allin cut a quick promo saying that AEW is the place to prove yourself even if you consider yourself to be “The Best in the World.”

Fightful Select first reported that CM Punk is in talks about a potential return to the ring with AEW being the most likely landing spot.

AEW will be back in Chicago during Labor Day weekend for All Out week. Tony Khan has stated in the past that All Out will always take place during labor day week in Chicago, Illinois. Of course, that did not take place in 2020 because of the global pandemic.
