"Blood and Guts" was a term used by Vince McMahon during the WWE second quarter 2019 earnings call when he said, "We're not gonna do blood and guts, such as being done on perhaps a new potential competitor" in reference to AEW. AEW filed for the "Blood and Guts" trademark on November 13, 2019.
WWE owns the trademark to "WarGames" but Cody has the trademark on "The Match Beyond," which was a common term used for the WarGames match. Cody also applied for the trademark on November 13, 2019. NXT holds its annual WarGames TakeOver event in November.
During the media scrum following AEW Revolution, Tony Khan confirmed the name of the match will be called "Blood & Guts."
