AEW Dynamite (5/11) Preview: All Elite: Fight In NY; CM Punk, MJF, Wardlow And More Hit Long Island!

It's Wednesday and you know what that means!

All Elite Wrestling is back on Long Island for another wild night of action. Several of Long Island’s favorite sons will return home in featured positions as the upcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view draws near. From CM Punk taking on the most beloved member of The Dark Order to the wrestling debut of Danhausen in AEW, here's everything you need to know before tonight's episode of Dynamite airs on TBS.

John Bradshaw Layfield Appears At GCW Dream On, Helps Matt Cardona

Jungle Boy Attempts To Capture His First Singles Championship

While Team Taz’s Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs want to face Jurassic Express for the AEW Tag Team Championship, Jungle Boy said that before that could happen, he wants his opportunity at Ricky Starks’ FTW belt. Thus far, there have only been two FTW Champions in AEW. Jungle Boy looks to become the third while adding to his legacy as a pillar of the promotion. There's absolutely no chance for Jungle Boy as far as Ricky is concerned.

Danhausen Debuts

Oh, yes! It's time for a very nice and very evil debut. The menacing Tony Nese, a Hometown boy on Long Island, made a challenge to face Danhausen and end his undefeated streak. Danhausen will try his best to overcome Tony end the question on everybody's mind is: where will HOOK be during this match?

The Owen Hart Foundation Memorial Cup Tournament Kicks Off

Three matches tonight will take place to start both of the Owen Hart Memorial Tournaments. on the women's side of things, Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm will go one-on-one. This match has been building since the moment Toni walked through the doors of AEW and both women were just on the opposite end of a tag team match which Toni won. Tonight it's one-on-one and Jamie looks to shut down any bit of momentum that Toni has.

On the men's side of things, Adam Cole will face Dax Harwood in one of two opening-round matches taking place tonight. Dax Harwood has made it very clear how personal this tournament is for him. Adam simply wants to come out on top to prove that The Undisputed Elite is exactly what they say they are. On the other side of things, Dax has made it clear that he is a Bret Hart guy, and Adam Cole is very proudly a Shawn Michaels guy. Whether or not those influences will show themselves inside the squared circle remains to be seen but both men feel that they need to advance in this tournament and that kind of intensity should result in a must-see matchup.

In what is easily the most anticipated match of the opening round of this tournament, Jeff Hardy faces Darby Allin in a daredevil dream matchup. It's one generation against another and Darby gets another opportunity to face one of his heroes as Jeff looks to prove that he belongs. Both men are sure to lay it all on the line for the fans in Long Island.

CM Punk takes on Johnny Hungee

John Silver is back home on Long Island and once again, CM Punk finds himself against one of Long Island's favorite sons. For CM Punk, this is not about John Silver, this is about sending a message to Adam Page, who all but said that he would embarrass CM Punk at Double or Nothing in their World Championship match. Can Johnny take advantage of an opportunity and potentially upset CM Punk? Long Island will certainly pop for it, but the only pop that CM Punk is looking for is the one that he will hear following a GTS.

The Jericho Appreciation Society Gives A Premature Victory Speech

The Jericho Appreciation Society has announced that they will give a victory speech this evening. This feels a bit premature as Eddie Kingston just told Chris Jericho on Rampage that this is far from over and now, it was strictly about hurting Chris Jericho. Perhaps “The Wizard” and “Daddy Magic” have conjured up a spell to make Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz forget about everything they have been through but the more likely outcome is that the New York natives will be out for revenge tonight.

MJF Agrees To Give Wardlow His Match… At A Cost

Wardlow is determined to hurt Maxwell Jacob Friedman. He said as much in a recent interview with Josh Martinez. But MJF is a smart man, and tonight, they will sign the contract for an eventual match, but as always, MJF has a plan. First off, they are signing the contract on Long Island, the one place in the world where MJF is likely to be cheered and Maxwell has already stated that there will be Hoops for Wardlow to jump through. In the past, Wardlow has been the major obstacle for MJF’s adversaries. Tonight, we will find out what MJF has in store for his former bodyguard.

That is just everything that is announced for tonight. Jade Cargill, the Blackpool Combat Club, Samoa Joe, and more are certain to be around and want their presence to be felt.
