Alex Hammerstone has spoken with Rick Boogs about a potential musical collaboration.
Yes, Alex Hammerstone is the current reigning and defending Major League Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion, but he is also very proud of his abilities on the guitar and even recently put out an EP under the name Blown Away Luna. Over in the world of WWE, Rick Boogs is prone to shredding on the guitar himself and even regularly played Shinsuke Nakamura to the ring when they were paired together.
Recently, during a conversation with another wrestling musician, Chris Jericho, Alex Hammerstone revealed that during the pandemic, he and Boogs actually shared some messages about potentially collaborating together and making some music. Hammerstone says that he believes when Boogs got called up to the main roster of WWE, it became a little more difficult to be able to pull something off.
"You know, I've gotten that so many times," Hammerstone said on the most recent Talk is Jericho podcast when Jericho suggested he and Boogs start a band together. "There was actually one point where he and I DM'd a couple of times, I think over the pandemic, about possibly doing some kind of collaboration, but I think once he started getting pulled up to the main roster, it becomes a lot more difficult to put stuff out there without the approval of the office."
Maybe someday that specific rock and wrestling connection can come to fruition. Currently, Boogs is sidelined with a torn quadriceps to patella tendon that he suffered during WrestleMania 38 Saturday. On the other hand, Hammerstone recently signed an extension with MLW. Learn more here.
In other wrestling-related rock band news, Kurt Angle recently revealed that he wanted to start a band with Chris Jericho when they were in WWE. Learn more here.
