Kurt Angle is a fan of KISS. It's true, it's damn true.
Everyone knows Kurt Angle is an Olympic gold medalist and that he won that Olympic gold medal in 1996 with a broken freakin' neck. Many people also know that Kurt Angle is very fond of a nice glass of milk. however, what many people might not know is that Kurt Angle is a fan of KISS and KISS drummer Peter Criss inspired Kurt Angle to take up the drums himself.
Kurt Angle spoke about his history with the drums on the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show podcast.
"I love KISS. I grew up with KISS. Peter Criss was my favorite drummer. I actually took drums because of Peter Criss and I took lessons for 20 years, and I became really good because I wanted to be Peter Criss" he revealed. "I finally got to meet him at a Comic-Con a couple of years ago, and I was elated. I was so excited. I'm like, 'Peter Criss, could you take a picture with me?' He's like, 'Kurt Angle, relax. I know who you are I want to take a picture with you as well, so let's do it together.' It was really cool because I was like, 'Peter Criss knows who I am? Holy crap!' I was so excited, man. It was the coolest thing in the world knowing that this guy knew me."
Asked if he ever played in a band, he said he never got the opportunity to but he did want to start a band in WWE along with Chris Jericho.
"Nope. I never played in a band," he said. "I would play in a studio at my house. I'd play music and I would drum to it. I always wanted to do a band. I actually came up with the idea in WWE with Chris Jericho. I wanted to start a band in WWE and make some songs and have WWE produce it."
While that never came to fruition, Kurt Angle did get to sing on the 2004 album WWE Originals, singing the song "I Don't Suck (Really)." On the other hand, Chris Jericho's band Fozzy continues to reach new milestones and Chris Jericho even got to form a KISS cover band during the global COVID pandemic called Kuarantine.
Today, Chris Jericho wrestles for AEW and he could have shared a locker room one more time with Kurt Angle, provided that Tony Khan was willing to pay a steep price.
