Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Let's get to it. Welcome to the official AEW Power Rankings (only on Fightful).
Here's how it works; I rank anything and everything from the past week of AEW Dynamite, giving what I liked a low number and what I didn't like a higher number. The numbers are fairly arbitrary, but an explanation accompanies each ranking. Because AEW won't use the same talent every week, you won't see the same people, places, or things ranked every week. If you don't see something ranked, feel free to ask me on social media (@jeremylambert88) where it would fall. I will use a random number generator and reply ASAP.
If you missed anything from AEW Dynamite, check out Fightful's full report on the show. You can also catch up on where things stand with last week's Power Rankings.
AEW Power Rankings - Week Ten
1. Soul Train Jones
This is the only option at number one. There was never going to be another person in this spot the moment Soultrain Jones hit the screen. This will forever be his spot. THE LEGEND!
The Legend Soul Train Jones is so big that the number two spot is left vacant. Occupied by abeyance.
4. Best Friends
A big win for the Best Friends, who are now on the right track in the tag team division. They knocked off the number one team in the not so official power rankings. Trent is looking like a big breakout singles star for the company.
5. #JoinDarkOrder
Slipped after last week's strong debut. But still a great way to right the wrong of whatever The Dark Order were from their debut up until last week. I'm in. Where's the kool-aid?
6. Jon Moxley Threatening Murder
Murder is still acceptable in the world of wrestling. Even at the end, while Moxley didn't outright say he was going to murder Jericho, the look said he was going to murder Jericho.
9. Turkey Cassidy
Gobble.
14. MJF
A big win, but a rough outing. Still, he won the Dynamite Diamond Ring and that's supposed to matter. Right?
21. Excalibur
Excalibur was excellent on Wednesday. Not only did he explain why Cody is still ranked, he had a nice couple of jabs at WWE that weren't in your face punches. I can appreciate those jabs when they are done in that way as WWE wasn't outright mentioned.
34. Justin Roberts' Neck
I was ready to feel bad for Justin Roberts as he was going to get choked with his own tie again. But he didn't get choked. They protected Justin Roberts' neck. Wu-Tang style.
40. Lil Bit Of The 40
Santana & Ortiz were the underrated stars of the opening segment.
50. Chris Jerigoat
On one hand, it was an awesome concept. On the other hand, the goat was not happy to be representing The GOAT. I am the goat.
54. Wrestling In A Hoodie
I do a lot of things in a hoodie. It's hoodie season. I can't imagine trying to wrestle in a hoodie. I can barely go for a run in my hoodie because it's bulky and meant to keep you warm. It's not meant to be wrestled in unless you're trying to lose weight. It's good for weight cutting. Not an actual wrestling match.
63. Banned From Ringside
Inner Circle and SCU have no regard for the rules. You would think it was a tag team match with the way they blatantly disrespected "banned from ringside" rules.
68. Okada Zoom Out
If the Best Friends win but there is no Okada zoom out during the hug, did the Best Friends really win?
70. Chicago Blackhawks
The highest they will be ranked in any power rankings this year.
74. Pentagon Jr
He is often distracted by shiny things and frequently gets his gear stolen. I know Fenix took the pin in the much, but it's Pentagon's fault they lost.
77. Being #1 In The Other AEW Power Rankings
Everyone ranked #1 in the other AEW Power Rankings ended up losing on Wednesday, thus proving my point that these are the only Power Rankings that matter. Pay no attention to their fancy graphics. One day, I will have fancy graphics. And then, the only thing that will separate my rankings with their rankings will be viewership. But it's a marathon, not a sprint.
78. Cody's Friends
Maybe he really is a dick? Could MJF be telling the truth the whole time? He is salt of the earth.
80. Hangman Page
So much for his big pay-per-view win against Pac. Now he's just losing in seven minutes to MJF after taking an ugly looking Cross Rhodes. Hangman Page is at a cross roads. Is he Elite? You have to watch Being The Elite to find out because if you only watch AEW Dynamite, you see a guy who just loses a lot.
85. Dynamite Diamond Ring
Why does this thing matter? MJF didn't want it and the final match lasted all of seven minutes and had a weak finish. MJF isn't going to defend it. HE DIDN'T WANT IT! If this whole thing was a set up to get Diamond Dallas Page on television, they could have just put Diamond Dallas Page on television. And Wardlow can beat up 50 dudes in a street fight but he is no match for AEW security.
89. Chicago Crowd
For the first time, the crowd didn't boost Dynamite. Being the fifth wrestling event in six days probably didn't help. The Chicago crowd tried to muster the energy, it just wasn't there for most of the night.
91. Small Package
Scorpio Sky won the AEW Tag Team Titles with a small package. He defeated Chris Jericho with the small package. Why didn't he use the small package? I will give Chris Jericho credit for doing his scouting report and not getting caught with the small package. But how is Scorpio Sky not looking for this move right out of the gate? He went with the backslide. Who has the backslide ever beaten?
93. Sound Celebration
Something was up with the sound during Jericho's celebration and it hurt an otherwise nearly perfect segment.
95. Marco Martinez
This poor guy should not have been on the show.
100. Jim Ross
The old guy should not be on the show. Ross might not be as problematic as another old announcer who recently landed himself in hot water, but Ross always doesn't do himself any favors on a week-to-week basis. If nothing else, take the word "Oriental" out of this man's vocabulary.
