Shad Gaspard passed away in May 2020. He was swimming with his 10-year-old son when things became highly turbulent, and lifeguards rushed in to save them. Shad instructed lifeguards to save his son before him. Fortunately, his son survived, but Shad was taken under by the tide.
Shad was given the Warrior Award at the 2022 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. Learn more about that here.
