Anthony Bowens Cites Effy's Big Gay Brunch As A Positive Sign Of Acceptance In Wrestling

Anthony Bowens is proud of the growth of acceptance in wrestling.

Anthony Bowens received positive affirmation from the AEW crowd in June 2023 when they chanted "He's gay" as Harley Cameron tried to hit on him. Bowens has been a role model for the LGBTQ community and he's seen wrestling fans be more accepting of the community over the years.

“We have shows on the independent [promotions] like Effy's Big Gay Brunch that features all LGBTQ athletes, I think he runs it multiple times a year now; it used to be every WrestleMania weekend, and then also on AEW, I think that at one point one of our shows had I think seven or eight out LGBTQ athletes on the show. That doesn't happen anywhere else. And that certainly didn't happen when I first started,” Bowens told PRIDE.

Bowens has been named the Grand Marshall of PRIDE.

Bowens remains a featured part of AEW television alongside Max Caster and Billy Gunn as The Acclaimed.
