Anthony Henry wants more for The Workhorsemen.
The back half of 2024 was a difficult one for fans of The Workhorsemen, as Anthony Henry and JD Drake haven't teamed together since May 2024 due to various injuries. 2025 will likely be a huge bounce back year for the team, as Henry is likely nearing a return from his bicep injury that he suffered in October.
During a recent appearance on AEW's Unrestricted podcast, Anthony Henry told Will Washington and Aubrey Edwards about his desire for The Workhorsemen to do more, noting that he knows what the team is capable of.
“I am a professional wrestler. No matter how much I want to contribute to the company in whatever role that I am chosen to be in, of course I’m gonna do that, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want more for The Workhorsemen because I know what we’re capable of. I know what we could be. I know that if we were given the opportunities, if they were allowed, if it opened up, that we could get over on TV, we could become bigger stars than we are, and we can absolutely hang with any tag team in the world. I have no problem saying that, I’ve always been confident in that. I’ve never been in the ring, nor has Drake been in the ring with anybody that we were out of place with, nobody that we couldn’t keep up with. When we have people like Mox and Danielson and all of these people behind us in the back, FTR and all of these people are behind us, to me, those are the people that I want to listen to, right? Those are the people that are definitely installing that confidence in us even further. So, coming back, and when Drake comes back, I’d love to just go on a run of having these matches with the best tag teams, and they are at AEW for sure. Have these matches and show everybody what we really really can do because honestly, as much as we have done, I feel like you’ve seen maybe 60% of it. That’s just me being dead honest.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Anthony Henry credited Eddie Kingston for trying to get him a job in 2021. Check out his full comments on the subject by clicking here.
