Asuka is back.
On the September 8 episode of WWE SmackDown, Charlotte Flair and Shotzi teamed up to face WWE Women's Champion IYO SKY and Bayley of Damage CTRL. The two teams battled it out while Dakota Kai watched on at ringside.
In the end, Asuka made her return as she showed up behind Kai. The distraction cost SKY and Bayley the bout, as Shotzi pinned Bayley with a modified DDT. After the

After the bell, Asuka stepped into the ring and confronted the reigning WWE Women's Champion. They squared off, and Asuka made it clear that she wanted her title back.
Later in the show, Damage CTRL commented on Asuka's actions. Bayley threatened that they would put her on the shelf, while SKY claimed that she is ready for Asuka. SKY then challenged Asuka to face her.

SKY previously won the title at WWE SummerSlam. There, Bianca Belair beat Flair and Asuka to win the gold, but SKY immediately cashed in her Money in the Bank contract to leave with the championship.
