Athena defended the gold at Korakuen Hall.
At the STARDOM New Year Stars event on January 13, Athena defended the ROH Women's World Championship against Thekla. The match was previously confirmed after Thekla cost Athena the International Women's Cup at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty.
Despite some interference from H.A.T.E., Athena emerged victorious by hitting the O-Face to retain the title.

After the match, Athena addressed Thekla and said that she would love to have a match with her again, maybe in the United States.

As of this writing, it is not known when or if Athena will have a rematch with Thekla.
Athena is signed to AEW, and she has held the ROH Women's World Championship since she won the gold at ROH Final Battle 2022.
