Bayley reflects on what has been an interesting 2018 for her thus far.
Since her debut on WWE's main roster during the summer of 2016, Bayley has not quite found the footing that she once had in NXT. Nonetheless, Bayley has had an eventful start to her 2018 as she has competed in the two first-evers; those being the first-ever Women's 'Royal Rumble' match and the first-ever Women's Elimination Chamber match. Speaking with SportsDay ahead of Monday Night RAW in Dallas, TX, "The Huggable One" stated that she never thought in her wildest dreams that she'd be competing in two mega matches for WWE's women's division that have happened over the past two months.
"No way. I always hoped and dreamed that all this stuff would happen just getting into the WWE, but never did I think that I'd be a part of such a great division, changing the perspective of women's wrestling let alone making history."
Bayley had a great showing in the Women's Elimination Chamber match as she checked out in the top three before being eliminated by Alexa Bliss. Bayley admitted that finding out that she was going to be stepping inside of the demonic structure was intimidating, but once the ball got rolling she was right back in her comfort zone.
"Honestly, it's very intimidating, the structure itself." Bayley revealed, "Being told that we were going to have this match was a little scary. But as weird as it may sound, as soon as I got in the Chamber and the bell rang, I felt really comfortable. It was really fun, but you know, it was just as painful as you'd imagine. But I was just happy. I was OK with it mentally when I got in there."
Another woman who has had a rocky yet eventful start to her 2018 is former 4-time RAW Women's Champion Sasha Banks. Dating back to the 'Royal Rumble' PPV, Sasha Banks and Bayley have had their issues that have been both physical and verbal. Although things seem to be a bit tense between the two "best-friends", Bayley made it clear that it is just a small disagreement and would go on to praise Sasha for being one of the best women's wrestlers to ever step foot in the ring.
"It's just a little complicated. Friends and sisters fight all the time, but it's just, I don't know; something that I know we have to handle ourselves, and I'm sure we will soon because it's just been a little awkward." Bayley added, "She's No. 1. for sure. I've always said that I think she is the best woman to ever step foot in the ring and maybe that's what bothers me sometimes because I want to be the best. But she's definitely my favorite opponent for many reasons."
The latest addition to RAW's women's division, Ronda Rousey, has received praises from fans in attendance who have been able to see her live. Bayley feels that Rousey has done fine thus far, but still thinks she has a few stripes to earn.
"I don't really see her much. She's kind of got her own thing going on and so do we. But I think she's fitting in well. The crowds really seem to like having her around and I think she's obviously going to fit in well and learn to adapt pretty easy. But she definitely still needs to earn her stripes, I'd say, and I'd be happy to help her."
As noted above, Bayley & Sasha Banks have had their differences and "issues" on RAW over the past couple of weeks. To catch up what has been going on between the two former NXT Women's Champions, head over to our RAW results from this past Monday.
