Becky Lynch Comments On Stepping Away From WWE To Be A Mom And Her Eventual Return

Becky Lynch announced on May 11 that she would be going away for a while as she is pregnant with her first child. Lynch was on top of the WWE mountain as the Raw Women's Champion and arguably the biggest star in the company.

But she is on to more important matters as she begins to start her family with fiance Seth Rollins.

Speaking to ESPN, Lynch discussed her decision to move away from wrestling for the time being and into motherhood.

"That's something that I've always preached and wanted women to have that equality," she said when asked about being able to take time off and then return when she's ready. "And of course, to be on the level with the male performers and be on the same level in terms of pay, in terms of treatment. But also, this kind of goes hand in hand where a guy can go and have a kid and doesn't have to miss a beat in his career. Unfortunately, we do. But that's also a fortunate thing because we get to experience things that they never will, but also it just doesn't mean that it's got to be the end for a career in any line. And I think a lot of people have proved that, and I hope to join them."

Becky specifically mentioned Asuka, Mickie James and Lacey Evans as female superstars who are able to balance wrestling with being a mother. Becky also noted that she felt like she's accomplished everything she set out to do in wrestling and that is nothing more important than family.

As far as her return is concerned, Becky said, "It's one of those things where I know what I feel and think as a person without a child. I don't know what that's going to look like when I do have one, and that's my priority. I'll tell you, it'll give me more motivation than ever, I could imagine. But this isn't the end of me, one way or the other."

Becky is expected to deliver in December.

In a previous interview, Becky discussed relinquishing the Raw Women's Title to Asuka an why it meant so much to her. You can find her full comments by clicking here.
